Morale volunteer has family reason for being part of Thon

This year Eileen Barno (freshman-kinesiology) attended her tenth Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic dance Marathon, an event that has had a major impact not only on her sister's life, but her own as well. It was the first time Eileen appeared at Thon not as a member of a Thon family, but as a student.

The Messina family of State College is one of some 2000 families that have been helped by THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Its goal is to assist people who have children receiving treatment for pediatric cancer at the Penn State Medical Center in Hershey.

State College tattoo artist Tony Campbell is the owner of Good and Evil Tattoos in downtown State College. “The only thing I don’t have tattooed is my butt cheeks,” he says, his light blue eyes sparkling. “I thought I’d look kind of silly in a g-string on the beach.”
